Yearly Events
Fairfax Crew maintains several annual events, which have become a Tradition for the team. Actual dates will be posted to our Calendar when they are finalized.
Fall Picnic - Meet the team and chat with a coach at our Fall picnic at Van Dyke Park in late September.
Fall Interest Meetings - We hold an after-school student and evening parent informational session in early fall.
Learn to Row Days (Green Days) - This is your chance to get on the water and see if Crew is for you! This fall event takes place at Sandy Run Boathouse. Participation and Emergency Care forms are required.
Tag Day - The team takes to the neighborhoods of Fairfax, usually in groups of about 4, and goes door-to-door in our annual fundraising activity.
Dinner Out - Monthly (or nearly monthly) our Fundraising team will setup a restaurant night, where members can stop by (or meet up with one another) at a local restaurant. This is optional but always a fun outing! This usually occurs within a specified time period, maybe 4-8pm, where you can eat dinner, or grab some carry out, and a percentage of the profits are given back to the team. Percentages vary based on the participating restaurant (Baja Fresh, Chipotle, and California Pizza Kitchen to name a few).
Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints - http://www.ergsprints.com/ - Usually held Late January or Early February, many team members come out for this event! The MidAtlantic Erg Sprints is the largest qualifying event for the World Indoor Rowing Championships (CRASH-B) and is now the second largest indoor rowing competition in the world, and the largest event of its kind for juniors. Rowers from 10-70+ participate with a large showing from neighborhing high schools and collegiate rowers in the region.
